Pool Sessions
Do you want to practise new kayaking skills, or even learn to roll during the cold winter months? If so, Forest Canoe Club can help you.
We have an arranged pool time at Cottesmore School (Pease Pottage) for every second Sunday evening from September until April from 5pm til 7pm. This is an excellent facility with ample safe parking and very easy pool access for boats. It is also close to Horsham.
Obviously there are a few rules aimed at members' safety and care of the pool. The pool is big enough to accommodate 10 boats on the water at the same time, which is sufficient for paddlers to work in pairs to practice support strokes, rescue skills, rolling, freestyle moves and rescue techniques. Depending on demand we are also keen to introduce fun events such as canoe polo, team relay races etc. If you have an idea please let us know.
The sessions are open to all members of all abilities and you do not even have to have your own boat. The school has kindly arranged for us to keep a number of club boats, paddles and spraydecks at the pool for use by members who do not have their own boats. The cost of each session is £5 per paddling member.
Please pre-book on the POOL PLANNER, as we need to know numbers in advance. If there is a need, and we can cover the additional cost of hire, the school will allow us to extend our session by an hour to ensure that all those who want to paddle can.
Pool session dates will be posted on the bulletin board so keep an eye open and book in advance.
PLEASE ENSURE YOUR BOAT IS CLEAN -- NO LEAVES, STONES, MUD OR SAND
Come down and give it a try, it is amazing how fast your skills develop when the water is warm and inviting, especially when it is dark and cold outside ....
