Lake Sessions

In the summer, from May to September, we hold club nights on a Thursday evening at Southwater Country Park lake. This is the perfect teaching and learning environment as it is on flat water, the coaches don't have to worry about their group floating off and the paddlers can focus on their strokes without (too many) distractions. All in all, it is a very safe controlled environment. To ensure we can get the most from the lake sessions we will be having two start times this year.

The hut will be open by 6:30 p.m.. Juniors will be kitted out first with a start time on the water of 6:45 p.m. Once the juniors are away from the hut adults will then be able to get their kit, their start time will be 7 p.m. The doors to the hut will be shut at this time. We will stick to these timings rigidly in order that full sessions can be enjoyed by all.

A responsible adult must be present, either on the water or on the bank, for each junior for the duration of the session and when the juniors’ session finishes at 8 p.m. Their Club kit must be put away once they are off the water, not left around to be put away after the adults have finished at 9 p.m. This must be done by adults, children are not to be allowed in the hut for safety reasons.

If you would like a trial session with Forest Canoe Club and an introduction to kayaking please contact the club E: forestcanoe@yahoo.co.uk, please give us your name, contact details and state what sort or introduction you would like, whether it be a pool, lake or river session.
